Sunday 2nd October: Thorpe – Parwich

9-10 miles – Start at 10am from Narlows Lane car park, Thorpe – Grid ref.  SK 164 505 –  Picnic lunch & possible drinks stop in Parwich – Walk leader Mary.

Sunday 9th October: Greasley – Moorgreen

Distance 8.5 miles – Start at 10:30am from the lay-by on the B600 outside Greasley Church – Grid ref. SK 490472 – A rural ramble through woodlands and one of the best ridgeway paths in the county, the walk is easy with a few inclines, but may be muddy in wet weather – Picnic lunch – Refreshment at Reubens Coffee House, Moorgreen after the walk – Walk leader Julia.

Sunday 16th October: Heatherdene – Win Hill – Hope – Townfield Lane

Approx 8.5 to 9 miles – Steep climb at the beginning of the walk – Start at 10:30am from Heatherdene car park, by the toilets – Car park charge £5 all day – Heatherdene car park is on the A6013, opposite Ladybower Reservoir, north of Bamford village – Grid ref. SK 202 858 – Picnic lunch – Walk leader Jean R.

Tuesday 18th October : Cromford Mill – Slinter Wood – Bonsall Way – Middleton Top – High Peak Trail – Cromford Canal (Footloose Extra)

Approx 7 miles – Meet at 10.30 outside Arkwright’s Cafe at Cromford Mill (in the Mill Yard, not to be confused with Wharf Cafe on opposite side of the road) Post code DE4 3RQ – Directions: Coming from Nottingham, turn right off A6 at traffic lights at Cromford and go down Mill Rd;  Cromford Mill is on the left after a short while – Limited free parking on the road outside the Mill – There is a car park at the Mill for £5 a day (takes cards or coins), or in the car park at Cromford Wharf for £4.80 (coins only) – Parking at Cromford railway station (nearby) is £1.50 after 10am.

There is a fairly substantial incline during the first part of the walk as we head out of Slinter Wood to join the route to Middleton (Sticks could be useful for parts of Slinter Wood if muddy) – After that, however, much of the walk is mainly flat or downhill as we approach and continue along the High Peak Trail towards the Cromford Canal – There is a choice of teashops at the end (and indeed the beginning) of the walk – Wharf Cafe or Arkwright’s Cafe – Picnic lunch – Toilets at the beginning, middle and end of walk – Walk leader Roger.

Sunday 23rd October : Elton – Middleton – Youlgreave – Limestone Way

Approx 9 miles – Start at 10:15am from outside All Saints Church, 7 Main St, Elton, Matlock, DE4 2BW – Free on-street parking nearby – Picnic lunch – Walk leader Nick.

Wednesday 26th October : AGM and Meal

The Annual General Meeting of Footloose walking club will take place at the Victoria Hotel, Beeston, followed by a meal – Start time 7pm.

Sunday 30th October : Thieves Wood – Blidworth – Newstead Abbey

11 miles – Start at 10am from Thieves Wood Car Park near Ravenshead – Grid ref. SK 542 558 – Directions: If travelling North on the A60, turn left at Larch Farm traffic lights in Ravenshead, onto the B6020, then take the next major road to the right, the B6139 – The car park is a few hundred yards from this junction, on the right and is free – A large proportion of this walk is in forest –  Picnic lunch, with a later coffee stop at Newstead Abbey near the end of the walk – Walk leader Ashley.
