Walks – December 2025

Winter walks may be cancelled due to bad weather – snow, ice, heavy rain, fog etc. In the event of such weather, please look out for updates both here and on WhatsApp, or contact the walk leader before setting out.

Sunday 7th December: Friden – High Peak Trail – Tissington Trail – Cardiomere Lane – Pennine Bridleway

8.6 miles – Start at 10:15am from Friden Car Park (Peak District NP, pay and display £6.60) – Grid ref. SK 172 607 – Post code SK17 0DY – W3W: ///bleaching.riddle.best – Car park is located about 0.25 miles on the right along the lane signed to Friden, Middleton & Youlgreave, leading off the A5012 Via Gellia road close to its junction with the A515 Ashbourne to Buxton road – Picnic lunch – Walk leader Jim.

Sunday 14th December: Woodhouse Eaves – Bradgate Park – Old John Tower – Windmill Hill

8.5 miles – Start at 10:15am outside the Pear Tree Inn, Woodhouse Eaves – Park in Main Street car park, next to the Village Hall – Grid Ref. SK 531 144 – Post Code LE12 8RZ – W3W: ///sprain.reduce.justifies, or on Maplewell Road – Picnic lunch – Pub at finish (Curzon Arms) – Walk leader Paul G.

Tuesday 16th December: Kegworth – Trent Lock (South Bank) (Footloose Extra)

6.5miles – Start at 10:15am from halfway along Nottingham Road, Kegworth opposite Borough Street – Park on Nottingham Road – Grid ref. SK 487 269 (OS Explorer map 245 National Forest) – Post code DE74 2HQ – W3W: ///bronze.affirming.kilts – Walk leader Ashley.

Walk by the River Soar to the junction of the River Trent with views of Trent Lock – A flat, easy walk, returning over fields – By leaving at 10:15, we should be back in Kegworth by 13:15, where there are benches for packed lunches, cafés etc., or a return to your car.

Saturday 20th December: Pentrich – Park End – South Wingfield (Christmas Meal)

A walk followed by a Christmas meal at The Dog in Pentrich – 7.5 miles – Start at 10:15am outside The Dog – Grid ref. SK 390 526 – Post code DE5 3RE – W3W: ///villa.surround.spellings – There may be an opportunity to stop for a hot drink or snack at Wingfield Station Tearoom, after 5 miles, if they are open.
