Walks – March 2025

Prospective new members are welcome on our walks , but we ask that you contact us beforehand and take a look at our frequently asked questions page.

Winter walks may be cancelled due to bad weather – snow, ice, heavy rain, fog etc. In the event of such weather, please look out for updates both here and on What’s App, or contact the walk leader before setting out.

SATURDAY 1st March: Calver – Bank Top Wood – Hassop

7.5 miles approx. – Start at 10:30am from outside the Derwentwater Arms in Calver – Please park on the road and not in the pub car park – Post code: S32 3XQ – W3W: ///splat.ghosts.ruffling – Picnic Lunch

Meal arranged for 3.30pm at the Derwentwater Arms for those who have pre booked (see Social Events) – Walk leader Jean R.

Sunday 9th March: Palterton – Glapwell – Stony Houghton – Scarcliffe

8.2 miles – Start at 10:30am from the north end of Main Street in Palterton (south of Bolsover) – Grid ref. SK 474 682 – Post code S44 6UR – W3W (approx) : ///insist.jammy.simulations – Park on the opposite side of the road to the houses, near the junction with Pennine View – Picnic lunch – Walk leader Jim.

Sunday 16th March: Ups and downs around Chatsworth

Tuesday 18th March: Vicar Water – Garibaldi Plantation – Cavendish Wood – Cavendish Lodge – Kings Clipstone (Footloose Extra)

An easy 7.2 miles – Start at 10:30am from the car park at Rumbles Café in Vicar Water Country Park (off the B6030 in Clipstone) – Grid ref. SK 587 627 – Post code NG21 9AA – W3W: ///spoken.bespoke.nightfall – Picnic lunch – Walk leader Jim.

Sunday 23rd March: Cropwell Bishop – Cropwell Butler – Langar – Colston Bassett

10.5 miles – Start at 10:30am from Cropwell Bishop Church – Grid Ref.  SK 684 335 – Post Code NG12 3SD – Parking on the main road is normally difficult so use the back roads – Hoe View Road will have spaces – Easy walk north of the Vale of Belvoir, passing the ruined church at Colston Bassett – Picnic lunch but with a coffee stop at Langar Wildflower Farm café – Walk leader Ashley.

Sunday 30th March: Brassington – Carsington – Hopton – Middleton Top – Griffe Grange – Harboro Rocks

9.5 miles – Start at 10am BST (clocks spring forward) prompt from Wirksworth Dale car park, Brassington (Free) – Grid ref. SK  234 547 – W3W: ///bounding.clearcut.recruited – Wirksworth Dale is on the east side of the main road (Dale End) at the north end of the village – Picnic lunch – Walk leader Mary.
