Sunday 2nd August: Cromford – Lea Wood – Dethick – Riber
7.8 miles – Start at 10:30am from outside St Mary’s Church, Mill Road, Cromford – SK 299 571 – DE4 3RQ – ///emblem.elevator.wimp – Choice of car parks (pay & display) – Picnic lunch – Walk leader Jim.
Sunday 9th August: Monyash and Lathkill Dale
About 8.5 miles, with 900 feet of ascent – Start in centre of Monyash at 10:15am SK 149 665 – DE45 1JH – ///variety.perfect.responses – Nearby free car park or on-road parking – Walking the Limestone Way, crossing Cales Dale, ultimately meeting Lathkill Dale below Over Haddon – Dependent on group, weather and timings, a possible diversion of 1 mile up to the Lathkill Hotel for lunchtime drink and possible picnic spot – Return to Monyash up the length of the Dale.
Generally easy walking, but despite relatively small overall height gain, most ascent is on the extensive steep steps and hill out of Cales Dale plus an extra 250 feet if we go to Over Haddon – Walk leader Richard.
Sunday 16th August: Hulland Ward – Bradley Lodge – Atlow Church – Upper Biggin
8 miles with 250m ascent – Start at 10:30am from the car park outside the old (closed) Medical Centre – SK 256 470 – DE6 3EA – ///lyrics.escalates.allows – Picnic lunch and an optional pub visit afterwards – Walk leader Paul G.
Parking: if approaching on the A517 from the East (Belper), look out for the Richard Thraves garage sign on the left, turn left before the filling station and park here opposite the farm shop (both garage and farm shop are closed on Sundays), or drive just past the filling station pumps and turn left down the lane with a public footpath sign – A few metres down on the right there are about 8-10 parking spaces outside the Medical Centre where the walk will start – Less than a minute’s walk between both recommended parking areas.
Tuesday 18th August: Steeple Grange – Wirksworth – Hopton – Middleton Top
7.5 miles – Start at 10:30am from Old Porter Lane, Steeple Grange – On-road parking next to the Light Railway station – Old Porter Lane is a dead end road, accessed from the B5035 (Porter Lane) – DE4 4GE – SK 288 555 – ///soaks.scariest.blanking – Picnic lunch – Refreshments at the National Stone Centre café near the end of the walk – Walk leader Louise.
Sunday 23rd August: Longshaw Circular (Moors, Tors and Edges)
9 miles approx – Start at 10:00am from Longshaw Estate main car park – Pay and Display (National Trust members free) – Off the A6187 Owler Bar Road – SK 267 800 – S11 7TZ – ///bunny.spare.ankle – Picnic lunch – Walk leaders Kathy and Ian.
Sunday 30th August: Baslow – Baslow Edge – Curbar Edge – Froggatt – Calver
About 7.5 miles – Start at 10:30am from outside the Post Office on School Lane in Baslow – SK 253 723 – DE45 1RZ – ///soggy.wager.dragonfly – You can park on nearby streets – Toilets are located in the paid public car park (Nether End) which is 10 minutes walk from the start – Picnic lunch on Froggatt Edge, plus a couple of opportunities for drink stops on the way round – Walk leader Paul W.
